See Ya' Down The Road
|
When we lived in a house and worked jobs we loved to take vacations and we took several a year. Some were long weekend vacations, some were a week long and once we took a fifteen day vacation to tour the west. The one thing we hated was to leave the road and return home and back to the boring routine lifestyle. So when we retired and started traveling fulltime we decided we would no longer travel in vacation mode. We lived in Kentucky and often went to central Florida for vacations. Sometimes we drove the 800 plus mile trip in one day, vacationed hard for a week, and then drove over 800 miles home arriving in time to go back to work. Our first trip fulltiming was to go to central Florida, but instead of making a quick trip we decided to travel slowly and see what we had missed over the years. It took us 38 days to reach the Florida border and another 21 days to arrive in central Florida. Now that we have been fulltiming over nine years we have decided we sort of like traveling in vacation mode again. No, we don’t like 800 mile days and we’re too old to travel that far. What we like to do is settle down in one place for a few months and then hit the road again and travel for a few months moving the motorhome a few hundred miles every few days. It is interesting how travels and lifestyles change after nine years of fulltiming. |
