One time my son Troy attended a medical convention at Walt Disney World and he took his wife Sandy and sons Luke and Logan. We thought it would be a great opportunity to visit their family and go to Walt Disney World together so we checked into a nearby campground. Some days we went to their hotel and babysit the boys so Troy and Sandy could attend medical events and be with other adults. We had a great time with the boys. In the campground everyone we passed when walking greeted us and we greeted them often stopping to talk a few minutes. When we drove out of the campground heading to the hotel everyone waved at us. The first day on the hotel's grounds we continued speaking to everyone we passed and no one spoke back. Actually, they would turn their heads so they wouldn't make eye contact. We tried to get just one person to reply when we greeted them and it never happened - no small talk, no smiles, no eye contact. Back at the campground we found everyone friendly again. So for five days we learned to Turn it On at the campground and Turn it Off at the hotel in Walt Disney World. Too bad the rest of the world doesn't understand RVers. |
