See Ya' Down The Road

Following it Springtime - I think it is the best season of the year. Days are warm, nights are cool and there is a freshness in the air. Flowers are budding in anticipation of a colorful summer and everything is full of life. Now lets look at the other seasons. Summers are hot and usually humid which makes staying indoors and running air conditions a must. Falls are depressing. The leaves on trees turn colors and fall to the ground dead. Squirrels work busily trying to store enough nuts to survive Winter. Fall means that dreaded Winter will follow. OK, now to Winter, the worse of all seasons. Cold, snow, furnaces running and just waiting and counting the number of days until Spring. Actually I don't mind having four seasons a year. But if I could pick just one season to live in it would be Spring. Being fulltimers we are able to follow the weather and live in Perpetual Springtime. This is a difficult task as the weather is never predictable, but we try hard to follow Springtime. The last three years we have spent the Winters in Texas, Arizona and Florida. By April we start slowly moving north and try to reach the USA / Canadian border by Summer. As Fall begins we work our way south and start the cycle again. Two years ago we were able to keep daytime temperatures in the lower seventies by following our plan and we reached Jasper, Alberta, Canada by mid-Summer. That Summer we never used the air conditioners or the furnace. The last two years we have tried to follow Springtime but have not been as lucky. This last year we saw snow on cactus in southern Arizona and temperatures over 100 degrees in Minnesota. There is no place where the weather is perfect year around so we'll continue to follow Springtime until we are too old to travel anymore. |
