See Ya' Down The Road

Seen One Rock - You've Seen Them All

Several years ago one of my friends and his wife went to California for a wedding. They decided to drive from Kentucky to California and back instead of flying so they could see this beautiful country. Their trip west was a hurried one, but they planned to have a relaxing return trip with stops to visit some of our country's most beautiful wonders - places they had only seen in pictures and on television.

Honey - this is the exit to the Grand Canyon. Do you want to see it?

No, if you've seen one rock you've seen them all.

Honey - do you want to drive north and visit Monument Valley where John Wayne made movies?

No, if you've seen one rock you've seen them all.

Honey - we're driving through the Petrified National Park and the Painted Desert. Do you want to stop here?

No, if you've seen one rock you've seen them all.

Honey - we're driving through Albuquerque. Do you want to see this beautiful city?

No, I've seen enough. I want to go home.

This is a true story and I feel sorry for people that don't want to see this beautiful country. If you have been reading about our travels in the west you will see we visited many rocks and they are all different. We spent seven months in the west and enjoyed every minute. It was sad when we crossed the Rocky Mountains and saw the rocks fade away in our rear view mirrors.

So get out there and look at the rocks, rivers and lakes, deserts, forests and farmland across America. You will see that no two things look the same.
