This article could be titled From Sea to Sea to Sea..... We realized in the last seven months we have traveled to many Seas, Oceans and bodies of water including from St. Johns, Newfoundland to near San Diego, California. That is from the eastern- most point in North America to the southwest-most point in the United States. Street Atlas shows a mileage of over 4,400 miles (plus a long ferry ride) between those cities but we saw many points in between. In Newfoundland we watched the sun rise over the Atlantic Ocean at the eastern-most point in North America. In Nova Scotia we went whale watching on an inflatable boat in the North Atlantic Ocean and on Prince Edward Island we went deep sea fishing in the North Atlantic. The Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick provided us with the highest and lowest tides in the world. We walked on the Bay's floor and later saw water 30-40 feet deep where we had just walked. Three months later in Florida we camped near the Gulf of Mexico and dipped our toes in warm water. We got near the Atlantic Ocean but not close enough to see water. In January we were in Mexico and camped on the Sea of Cortez. U.S. citizens call it the Gulf of Mexico but Mexicans know it as the Sea of Cortez. From its' water we ate fresh shrimp and clams daily. Back in the states we camped by the Salton Sea in southern California. It is a bird watchers paradise being on two bird migration flight patterns. We had to change plans so we did not drive over to the Pacific Ocean on this trip. When we started fulltiming in 1999 we had lists of places to go and things to see including Seas and Oceans. We did not realized we have seen so many bodies of water in the last seven months but we are fulfilling our dreams. |
