We stopped at the Marfa Lights Viewing Area near Marfa, Texas and planned to spend the night in our motorhome in their parking area. When I stepped outside I noticed several beer bottles and some other trash beside our motorhome so I immediately picked up everything and placed it in a trash can. I didn't want others to think we had deposited the trash and I didn't want overnight parking stopped because of trash in the parking lot. If we leave trash in parking areas we will lose our privilege of parking there. Wal-Marts are favorites of ours for staying overnight and it makes me boiling mad when other RVers abuse boondocking rules. We arrive late, leave early, don't extend our slideout or awnings and of course never leave any trash. We also purchase items in the store, ask for permission to stay and say thanks. We have seen many RVers set up camp at Wal-Marts and spend several days there while grilling outside under awnings and with trash around their rigs. Those people will make Wal-Marts refuse to let me stay next time. When I drive my Honda and see a semi-truck trying to change lanes I slow down and blink my headlights to let the truck pull in front of me. I do that because I know how hard it is to change lanes in my motorhome towing my Honda and totaling 56-feet in length. I hope by helping others change lanes that someone will allow me to change lanes in front of them. In restaurants when we get lousy service or bad food we complain to the manager but we also compliment the manager when we get good service and delicious food. We hope the next customers will benefit from our comments to management. We do the above things and more to help not ourselves, but to help the next guy. If we all did this it would make things better for everyone. |
