A woman recently wrote she and her husband want to fulltime in a RV but she did not want to lose the familiar. She wants to see the same doctors and dentist which is understandable. But she wants to shop in the same stores, buy groceries at the same market, attend the same church and see her friends daily. Now there is nothing wrong with her fear of losing the familiar, but why is she considering traveling fulltime? Then there was the woman who told me she wants to travel fulltime but she can't part with the new hardwood floor she recently installed in her kitchen. I feel sorry for a person who values a kitchen floor more than following a dream. Some people are born to seek and some are born to sit. We each have a choice which to follow and there is nothing wrong with either choice. Our thoughts on “losing the familiar” is different than most people. We love to shop in different stores, but often find ourselves in a Wal-Mart and most are built identical. But we enjoy shopping in various food markets to see what they have in fresh vegetables, fruits and meats. We don't always find items we are looking for but a store worker is always willing to lead us to those items. We have found there are good doctors in every part of this country and most younger (than us) doctors have excellent training and experience. Immediate Care Centers do not require appointments and can even diagnose a problem your regular doctor has overlooked. In nearly six years of fulltiming we have never regretted losing the view from our house that we saw daily. The scene was the same morning, noon and night. Now we get excited every time we cross a mountain to see what is on the other side. We love to drive through small towns and often stopped to eat a meal or shop in a unique store. The familiar would bore us to death and we recently made a decision to travel fulltime at least ten more years. |
