See Ya' Down The Road

Every night Linda complained about our mattress, she tossed and turned, and every morning she woke up sore and hurting. It is bad to get old. (I honestly can sleep on any surface and get a good night's sleep.) Many people sleep on foam mattresses and we began our search on the internet. Wow, a queen size Tempur-Pedic cost $1,899, too much to pay for a mattress. That much money will buy a lot of sleeping pills. We drove to several bedding and mattress stores and they all wanted to sell us foam topped mattresses starting at $1,100, still too much money for old retired people. There are several "dial-a-firmness" type mattresses on the market but they won't work for us. With that type mattress each sleeper selects their firmness or sleep number so each side of the mattress is unique with a firmness between the sleepers. Heck, we both sleep in the middle of the bed since we are lifelong honeymooners. We decided we wanted only a memory foam topper or pad to place on top of our mattress and none of the mattress store had them. The sales people looked at us like we were "trailer trash" for wanting a topper instead of the real thing. One hour up the interstate we found a very large outlet mall and could not believe not one store had any toppers in stock. Back in the city we decided to shop Sears, JC Penny and other large department stores. We finally found one topper, but the box did not describe the thickness, density or quality. We decided to pass and return to the internet. On the internet we found a wealth of information and exactly what we wanted . We learned memory foam mattress toppers (or pads) come in different thicknesses (2", 3", 4") and different densities (3.3 lbs, 4.3 lbs, 5.3 lbs) so customers (sleepers) can chose the topper that is exactly right for them. I have talked to people who love their toppers while other people hate them. I'm sure the haters chose the wrong topper. They just went to a store and bought what was on the shelf and got the wrong thickness or density. We ordered a 2 inch, 4.3 lb, queen size memory foam topper ($159.99) and a cotton cover ($39.99) and got free shipping and paid no sales tax. It arrived four days later and to our surprise they had included a free memory foam pillow ($39.99). The first night Linda slept like a baby and actually over-slept one hour. Since we bought the memory foam mattress topper she has not complained one time about soreness or aching bones. We highly recommend foam toppers but do your research and buy the one that is right for you. |
